MY EXPERIENCE IN JOURNALISM 102 CLASS

Writing is my way of expressing my feelings especially when I do not want others to know about it. I knew that in our journalism 102 class, I will be able to enhance my writing skills. We have gone a lot of writing exercises and it's fun. My journey in our class was all worth-it although there were times of hardships because writing is really not a joke, you have to exert efforts for you to have the best output. As time passes by, I noticed that my writing skills have improved because my vocabulary became wider than last semester. One of my funny and unforgettable experience in our writing exercise is when our professor, Ms. Berin, group us into 4 or 5 i think and she told us to think of a headline for the pictures that she will be showing us. Our group had a hard time thinking of a good title but those hard times went so light because we are all cracking jokes and laughing while thinking of a headline. At the end, we came up with a good headline and a good grade because we cooperate with one another. At the same time, we had our bonding time also with Ms. Berin and that is so memorable for me. I do believe that writing skills must be coupled with good working attitude and values because as I said a while ago, writing is not a joke, you have to be serious and you need to have a strong will before you can come up with the best outcome.

If given a chance to be hired in a magazine company, I wish to cover love stories. I like this because in covering them, you will also be inspired by their stories as well as by their advices on how to survive all your journeys in love. I wish to interview people or most probably those who are willing to share their love stories to all of the people. Well, as you can conclude in my sharing, I want to be remembered as a writer of love because in my interviews, I would also like to share my own opinions for all of the people, either they are in-love or not, broken-hearted or not, and married or not.

PEER PRESSURE
Sometimes, there’s an instance that you have to decide whether to go or not, to do it or not, and to give in or not. Decision making is quite hard for others especially when they depend on something or someone else. It is like walking in a forest that is full of trap; you must walk carefully in order for you not to fall on it.
That is the feeling of peer pressure. Nowadays, different vices and bad influences are around us so you have to be alert in order for you not to be manipulated by them. Usually, teenagers are the one who get caught by them. Many are easily influenced and they just go with the flow not knowing that they will suffer after. Where can we experience these things? In school most probably because there, we make new friends and we socialize. It is good to create a good relationship with others but not good to be with people who don’t know the real meaning of school and friendship. They will try to influence you with their vices and they will tell you fake advantages of these things. If you have a weak personality, you will easily believe them. Be careful in choosing your companions. I did not say that you have to be choosy in a case that you have to ignore everyone that you don’t like to be with but be choosy in a good way. You may start by observing. Watch them by knowing their background status or what makes them busy right now. Once you already know some information from them, you can conclude from those informations whether they are good influences to you or not. It does not mean that I consider all of them a bad influence; it is not the issue here. In our world, there are positive and negative traits and we are not all perfect. There is also a big chance that you will meet those who can be a good influence to you and that is a better thing.

In my own experience, I know how to weigh one’s personality because I am careful. I repeat, not choosy but careful. When I first get in Far Eastern University, I met new friends and they are good. As time passes by, they cut classes and they want to gimmick more than going in our class. What I did was I did not let myself be influenced by them, instead, I follow my own decision and that is to go in my class rather than to be with them in their wrong deeds. In this case, I learned that you have to have a broad mind in order for you not to easily go after them. We have our own mind and we must have our own decision whether to do those things or not. Well, in the end, it is really up to you. Besides, you already know the wrong and good things right? Just be careful. Don’t get too pressured because your world does not go around them but it goes in your own life.

MASS COMMUNICATION WEEK 2010-2011

Honestly, I really don't feel the mass communication week maybe because we are not so much aware of it. During the week, we all have our regular classes which hinder us to stay longer in school. There are a lot of things to do and to accomplish. It is already our final term and we have to strive more.

In my own observations, I think a lot of Mass Communication students enjoyed the said Mass Communication Fair last February 17, 2011. I have seen a lot of pictures and you can see there that it was really fun. Unfortunately, I was not able to watch it because I have to leave the school early for I have to do something. I just heard that it was like a variety show and there are many students who performed amazingly. Well, I really bow to that students because they can manage their time for extra-curricular activities as well as for their academic. Before I forgot, I just want to mention that I avail a Mass communication shirt because it is beautiful and it is also a support to our course. If I were given a chance, I really also want to participate there because during my high school days, I am also a member of our theater which is the dramatic guild. I also love to perform on stage. For now, I just decided to be a simple student because I want to maintain my grades, but if there's an opportunity, I will maybe get it so that once in a my college years, I have experience this kind of activities. I just want to congratulate all of the students who performed and also the students who are behind this successful event in Mass Communication. Just don't forget all of the academic activities to be done. It is really the way to your success after college. Keep on moving up!

Far Eastern University celebrates its 83rd Founding Anniversary
I studied in Far Eastern University last November 2009. I am a transferee. I’m taking up Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication. I shifted from BS Nursing. When I transferred in FEU, I didn’t have any regrets because it is a good school. I also witnessed the 2010 Foundation Week. During the last day, we watched a concert inside the school. The guest band is Sponge Cola. I really love their songs so I stay there until 11 in the evening I think. I can’t stay long because my house is far from the school. I wasn’t able to see Vice Ganda, another guest in the concert.
This year 2011, the foundation week routine of Far Eastern University is the same as what I have witnessed last year. During the week, January 17-21, we have our daily classes so I am not able to feel what the happening during the foundation week really is. I felt like it’s quite usual as our every day of being in school. I am aware that we have a blood-letting care of Red Cross but I am not able to donate a blood because I’m low blood. But it is a good opening way to continue another year of the university. We also have PElympics. Some of our classmates are participants there. We cheer for them. Unfortunately, they didn’t get the champion award but it’s alright because they really exert all their efforts to win. We really enjoyed watching them. At the last day, there was a concert again. Pupil and Callalily is the guest band but I didn’t watch it because I was so tired and there were already a lot of people in our field. We had run out of space because as the concert started, we still have our class so we didn’t have the chance to save some space for us to see it clearly and fully. I just glimpse a little and then I already went home. As I was walking on my way home, heavy rain pours down so hard. I thought of them, the people in the school are there without a roof in the place. I wonder if they continue it or they wait for the rain to stop but I’m sure that they all enjoyed the concert.

BE SMART IN SHOPPING

Honestly, as a girl, I really like to go shopping especially when I see different cute stuffs like dresses, bags, and shoes. We can't deny the fact that most of the girls out there want to have the best outfit ever whenever they hang-out somewhere. It's always good to have different clothes that will set your mood and will made you presentable and pleasing, but be careful in shopping. Always look for the quality of it.

I have some advice for you girls out there. When you shop, be smart. We really don't have to buy almost all of those new stuffs in town. Don't go crazy. Just buy those things that you really need. Before go shopping, prepare and make a list of the things that you REALLY NEED to buy. When you already have the list, it will be easy for you to shop. It also saves time and energy. Well in fact, we really know that shopping is equals to long hours of walking. If you want to shop and buy something for yourself, avoid going with your boyfriend or a guy friend because they are not interested with that. Unless, you'll treat them after.

When you already have what you want, don't insist on buying a new one again. Try to mix your clothes to produce something new. Try to fold your maong pants if you are bored with a long pants. You can also use your polo as a bolero when you don't want to expose all of you arms in wearing a sleeveless.  Be smart. You have to know when and how to use your money wisely when you shop. In that way, you can save your money after your smart shopping and still have enough to relax in a restaurant after a long period of shopping.

CELLPHONES

As of now, if you would ask me what is my most valued material? I would definitely answer you, cellphones. Why? practically speaking, many of us nowadays depend on our cellular phones because it is our way of communicating with other people all around the world. In my own experiences, my mother is working abroad because she have to sustain our needs. For us to maintain our communication with her, she always calls us through our cellphones. Without it, how can we communicate every now and then? Maybe through computers also, but cellphones is a gadget that can be easily bring anywhere you go. So, wherever we go, we can text our mom if we are going to ask for her permission about something. In that way, distance is not really a super big deal right?

Presently, I am 2nd year Mass Communication student in Far Eastern University. We have different projects, exams and paper works to finish. Our professors will sometimes group us into 5 or 6, depending on what they wanted. Since I am an irregular student, my classmates are not all the same everyday. So, I have to get their cellphone numbers for us to communicate about our group projects or any other requirements. With the use of our cellphones, it will be easy for us to do our task by communicating even if we are not near to each other. Another situation, I have plenty of friends. Our houses are not near to each other. So, if we want to meet during vacation, we can contact everybody through our cellphones. With that, we can settle a reunion or bonding moments during vacations.

I can say that cellphones are really important. For me, without it, my life would probably be not complete. Maybe I will be into it as time passes by, but it's a different feeling when you feel like you're near to each other even though you're not through communicating with cellphones.

WHITE NEW YEAR!
2011

During my childhood days, I was always excited to welcome the New year. There were a lot of foods. Our usual tradition is to have different kinds of round fruits symbolizing money and noodles for a long life. I remember, we also wore polka dots clothes and shook cans full of coins so that a lot of luck will enter. There were fireworks booming to swept away bad lucks. We open all the lights, closets, windows and doors to fill the house with a lot of fortune that New year brings. Upon waiting for the Media Noche, our mom handed us a dozen of grapes to eat after greeting each other a "HAPPY NEW YEAR". It was fun and very blessed year for our family. It's so nice to prepare for the coming of new year.

This time, We welcome the New year differently. We celebrated the coming of 2011 in Japan. We also prepare for it but this time, it's a peaceful New year. No fireworks at all. Just our family together waiting for 2011 to come. The food we ate, Osechi, is a traditional expensive food in Japan during New year. It contains diifferent kinds of Japanese foods. We also ate Toshikoshi soba 10 minutes before Media Noche to lengthen our lives. We greeted and kissed each other when 12 midnight strikes. We woke up early in the morning because our mom woke us up to show us the beautiful snow outside. The roof of houses and cars in the streets are all full of snows. We played with the snows feeling like a child again. It was so fun to experience it.

We were happy because we were with our mom to celebrate the New year. It's been 9 years since we last celebrated the New year together. Now, we really felt again that we have a mother who will always care, support, protect and love us. Although we had a short time together, we still wish that someday we will always be together not just these holiday seasons but everyday in our lives. May we all celebrated a prosperous 2011. HAPPY NEW YEAR! :)
